General Plant Care Tips
Always avoid drafts from warm and cold air sources on your plants.
Some plants (dumb cane, English ivy and poinsettia) are poisonous to humans and pets. In most cases, symptoms include, pain, discomfort and illness, and are not fatal. Take care to ensure that plants are never ingested.
How much light is right?
Sunny location/bright light plants in this category will prefer a southern exposure and may do well in a western exposure that receives light most of the day (approximately 8 hours).
Diffused light these plants prefer an eastern exposure or light through sheer curtains in a southern exposure. They like to receive about 4 hours of morning sun.
Low light northern exposure is good for these plants. These plants might also do well in other areas with protection and away from windows.
Watering requirements fall into 3 categories. Always be sure to check for moisture as deep into the soil as possible. Pots without drainage will hold water longer than those with bottom drainage.
Dry side plants should be watered thoroughly and be allowed to become dry before the next watering.
Evenly moist, but not soggy these should be watered thoroughly and then watered again when the soil surface is dry.
Evenly moist keep the soil moist but never soggy.
